Best Quick Autumn Crochet Patterns

Updated: Aug 25

Who can honestly say that Autumn, or Fall if you will, is not one of the best times of the year? The weather is nice and cool, you get to wear your favorite sweaters without the need of an additional heavy coat, it’s not weird to watch movies like Hocus Pocus or Practical Magic on rerun, not to mention all the spiced ciders and pumpkin picking... and the leaves?! Don’t you just love the golds, reds and auburns of the leaves as they change color?

As we get closer to this magical time of the year, you may be searching for crochet project to add to your collection of Autumn/Halloween decorations, or to gift to friends and family or maybe to sell at craft fairs. If you’re like me, you tend to start the search quite late in the season and you end up needing simple, quick and easy ideas. Below I have listed six of the best quick crochet patterns for Autumn and Halloween I have tried and tested as a last-minute crafter.

A note for when you are selling these patterns at fairs:

If you want to sell the finished products made from these patterns, or any other crochet pattern, at a craft fair just make sure the designer of the pattern does not mind. They will often mention something about selling finished products within their pattern either in the beginning or the end. Always make sure to credit the designer when posting about the finished products!

Ghosts Crochet Pattern by Rose and Lily

You can find the pattern here.

I only started using this pattern this year and it is already one of my favorites! The pattern is actually so simple and quick. I tend to crochet quite slowly because my hands easily get stiff and sore but I was able to make one of these in less than half an hour. Plus the pattern is easy to memorize which makes it great for crocheting on the go - no checking the pattern instructions every step.

Pumpkin Crochet Pattern by Marching North

You can find the pattern here.

This pattern was not only simple and quick, it is also easily adjustable and a good way to use up some of that old yarn! I had had two giant skeins or orange yarn hanging around for a while and just wanted to make pumpkins with them and this pattern was perfect. Pumpkin decor is so versatile which is probably why I end up with so many different versions of pumpkin decorations.

Bat Crochet Pattern by Sweet Softies

You can find the pattern here.

It has only been recently that I realized how many times I have loved crochet patterns by Sweet Softies. I believe this was the first crochet pattern by this account that I ever made way back in 2019. I still use my little bat as decor every year, but I have pictured here my first ever shot of him. I think I have made this pattern twice, once for my job when I worked at a haberdashery and craft shop called Abakhan in the UK, and then once for myself. The pattern isn’t quite as quick to make as the others I have discussed, but it is very beginner friendly and uses easy-to-follow stitches and steps.

Mini Pumpkins Crochet Pattern by Knot Bad Ami

You can find the pattern here.

I can’t actually find the original pattern I used, but this one is very close. I made so many of these mini pumpkins over the span of a weekend once I actually had no clue what to do with them! I love this pattern because it is so incredibly adjustable to yarn and size. It has the additional benefit of being a great way to use up some scrap balls of yarn. You can make the pumpkins as tiny or as large as you’d like.

Leaves Crochet Pattern by Golden Lucy Crafts

You can find the pattern here.

When I made my first ever crochet pumpkins, I thought they needed some additional decor, so I found the simplest crochet leaves pattern and made loads of them. This is another great pattern to use up your yarn craps pile. These would be great for making garlands or as appliques on a blanket, pillow or bag.

Granny Square Blanket

Granny Square blankets are classic and timeless. If you’re like me and you’ve made enough granny squares that it’s muscle memory, then watching a movie or two while you bust out one of these is easy peasy! Find some gorgeous fall-colored yarn, or pick the most iconic colors from your favorite autumn or Halloween movie poster/scene. A blanket may take a little longer than a day or a weekend, but if you give it enough time during your day you could have one done anywhere from a week to a month depending on how big you want it.

The one in the picture took me over a month I think, but my hands get easily sore when crocheting and this blanket got so heavy the more I added to it. Plus it was my largest ever granny square blanket!

Benefits of Quick Autumn Crochet Patterns

One of my favorite things about these patterns is that they use a love of repetitive stitches which makes them great for plopping down in front of the tv with your favorite autumn film and mindlessly crocheting. By the end of the movie you may have a newly completed Halloween decoration! If you’re looking for a quick and easy crochet pattern to get you in the autumn spirit try out one of these and tell me what you think!
